Executive Director Transition at Amref Health Africa in Canada
Amref Health Africa in Canada will be undergoing a transition in leadership as the organization’s current Executive Director, Onome Ako, has tendered her resignation effective August 13, 2021 to take up a new position.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Onome for her outstanding leadership over the past six years, first as the Director of Strategic Partnerships then as Executive Director. Onome oversaw the continued growth of Amref Health Africa in Canada while ensuring upwards of 85% of funds directly supported health-focused projects in African countries where the organization works. Her expertise in forging multi-sectoral partnerships has strengthened Amref Health Africa’s ability to reach its vision of lasting health change in Africa. Onome’s dedication to and passion for the health and rights of girls and women will continue to inform the work of Amref Health Africa in Canada.
The Board of Directors is conducting a comprehensive search for the role of Executive Director, beginning immediately, with the intention of completing the process prior to Onome’s end date to ensure a seamless transition.
