The management of Amref Health Africa in Canada is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors who meet quarterly.<\/p>\n

Globally, Amref Health Africa is governed by an International Board of Directors that includes representatives from Africa, Europe and North America.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\"Ryan<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Ryan Wiley, PhD, Chair<\/h3><\/div>

Dr Ryan Wiley is President of Shift Health, which he has helped to grow into one of the most dynamic and trusted advisory teams within the health research and innovation ecosystem, with footholds in North America, Europe and the Middle East. Working with global leaders in the contexts of business, healthcare, science, policy and social justice, Ryan is committed to creating a healthcare future that\u2019s collaborative, inclusive and person-centered.<\/p>\n

Ryan received his PhD in immunology from McMaster University, where he is now an Adjunct Professor. He is Policy Advisor to and Past Chair of Research Canada, Co-chair of Life Sciences Ontario\u2019s Annual Policy Forum, a founding member of Building an Inclusive Life Sciences Future and the Inclusive Life Sciences Collaboration, Chair of Amref Health Africa in Canada and a Director on the board of CanHealth International. Ryan was honored to receive Research Canada\u2019s Leadership in Advocacy Award in 2019 and Life Sciences Ontario\u2019s Volunteer Award in 2022.<\/p>\n

Ryan is a member of Amref Canada\u2019s Governance, Nominations and HR Committee, and Audit and Finance Committee.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Dr Florence Temu<\/h3><\/div>

Dr Florence Temu currently serves as the Country Director for Amref Health Africa in Tanzania. With a dedicated tenure spanning over seventeen years within the organization, she has held diverse roles, including Country Director for Ethiopia prior to her current position.<\/p>\n

Before joining Amref Health Africa, Dr Temu contributed significantly to the Government of Tanzania in various capacities. Her roles encompassed leading cancer prevention efforts at the Ocean Road Cancer Institute in Tanzania, serving as a general practitioner, and conducting research under maternal and HIV research projects at Muhimbili National Hospital in Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Dr Temu holds a degree in medicine, a master’s degree in public health, a diploma in palliative care, and a university certificate in geriatric health care management. She is currently completing her master of science degree in global management. Her professional interests are rooted in reproductive and maternal health, HIV and AIDS, non-communicable diseases, geriatric health, and palliative care. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Temu’s commitment to leadership and management excellence is evident through her participation in several courses, including the PEAK Fellowship by Population Fellows Programs at the University of Michigan, USA. And the Mastery of Directorship certification from the Institute of Directors of Tanzania (IoDT).<\/p>\n

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr Temu also serves on Boards of Governance and is a Council member for Women Leaders for the World under the Global Women Leadership Network (GWLN). In recognition of her remarkable contributions, she was honored as an awardee of the Women in Management Africa Awards 2022. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

\"Serena<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Serena Hak<\/h3><\/div>

In 2009, Serena Hak began her career in the philanthropic sector working with youth to help them better understand the importance of social consciousness. Today, she is the Executive Director & Partner of The Donor Motivation Program\u00ae, a Senior Associate at CI Private Wealth, and the Head of Philanthropic Services for Assante Wealth Management. Serena is committed to helping Canadians better integrate their generosity goals with their wealth.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Serena is a frequent national speaker, educator, and author on charitable giving. She has been featured in publications such as the Globe and Mail and the National Post and sits on numerous boards including the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and Benefaction Foundation. Serena attended Western University and holds the Master Financial Adviser \u2013 Philanthropy (MFA-P\u2122) designation. Serena is truly passionate about breaking down the barriers and bridging the gaps between the for-profit and non-profit sectors.<\/p>\n

Adam Gordon<\/h3><\/div>

Adam brings to the Amref Health Africa in Canada Board of Directors over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector in Canada and the UK. In addition, he brings his public sector experience managing large-scale investment programs for the Ontario Government. Adam currently has a senior role at the Worker Safety Insurance Board (WSIB), where he is responsible for the WSIB\u2019s investment management supplier relationships.<\/p>\n

Adam has previously served as a Board member for local nonprofit organizations in Toronto and serves as a mentor to young professionals through the CFA Toronto Society.<\/p>\n

Adam is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and has a Master\u2019s of Business Administration (MBA) from McGill University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University.<\/p>\n

Adam is a member of the Fundraising, Investment, and Audit & Finance Committees.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Karen Wensley<\/h3><\/div>

Karen Wensley is a frequent speaker on professional ethics, diversity and inclusion, and personal branding. She was a special lecturer in business ethics at the University of Waterloo from 2010 \u2013 2019 and the author of the monthly ethics column for CPA Magazine from 2014 – 2018. She has presented workshops on professional ethics for CPA Canada, The Canadian Tax Foundation, and corporate Canada.<\/p>\n

Karen is a member of the board of directors and chair of the audit committee of Partners Community Health, Gore Mutual Insurance and Amref Health Canada. Karen also provides consulting services to businesses in the areas of HR strategy, executive coaching and team effectiveness.<\/p>\n

Karen retired as a partner of Ernst & Young in 2010, where she spent most of her career as a tax partner and then became the national Human Resources leader.<\/p>\n

Karen is a member of the Audit and Finance Committee.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

\"Zuwa<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Zuwa Matondo<\/h3><\/div>

Zuwa Matondo is a public policy, governance and legal professional and has worked with national governments, international regional bodies, law firms and multi-national corporations on policy development as well as complex multi-jurisdictional transactions and projects. He possesses a multi-cultural fluency having worked in Africa, North America, Europe, and East Asia.<\/p>\n

He is also the founder of Gov-Enhance Africa, a non-governmental platform for policy thinkers & governance practitioners to provide policy recommendations to African governments and engage in institutional capacity-building initiatives.<\/p>\n

Zuwa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from McGill University; both Common and Civil Law Degrees also from McGill University; and a Masters in Public Policy from Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government.<\/p>\n

Zuwa is a member of the Governance, Nominations and HR
