Accelerating the Shot & Advancing Health Security

As the world celebrates the gains from the COVID-19 vaccination efforts, Africa is still lagging with only 21% (World Health Organization, July 2022) of its total population vaccinated, compared to a global average of 68% (Our World Data, August 2022). The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the tremendous vulnerabilities of health systems around the world, and more so in areas where health systems were already compromised. Prioritizing health services, such as vaccinations, and health promotion to advance health security is critical, along with a reimagination of health systems to promote healthier and more resilient communities.

Amref’s Innovative Mobile Response Solution

In an effort to continue building health systems and providing quality primary health care, including in underserved communities, we are excited to share our new innovative solar-powered Mobile Vaccination Clinics (MVCs). These clinics will offer integrated COVID-19 services, such as COVID-19 screening, vaccination, and urgent care following immunization as needed. Together with our donors, we are bringing real change on a daily basis.
