Navin Singh

Executive Director

Twenty-five years of progressive leadership and marketing experience in the charitable sector have given Navin the ability to manage a range of strategic issues, build effective teams, and deliver mission impact. This extensive involvement within the charitable sector reflects his commitment to driving measurable change in situations that limit the ability of individuals and communities to thrive and realize their fullest potential.

Navin spent eight years at World Vision Canada, where he developed a strong background in relief, development, and advocacy, supporting the world’s most vulnerable children. As a marketing and fundraising professional, he has gained significant experience in a broad array of revenue-generation tactics across brand, product, and philanthropic campaigns. These campaigns involved a combination of integrated digital and traditional media channels and relationship management. Additionally, he oversaw the strategic marketing and communication functions at a regional health centre, which provided specialized care in areas such as cardiac and stroke treatment, cancer care, pediatric health, rehabilitation, and gerontology.

Throughout his career, Navin has cultivated a reputation among his peers as an empowering, collaborative, and strategic business partner who consistently elevates the performance of those around him.

Navin has served on the Board of Directors at Scott Mission in Toronto and is currently a member of the Risk Management, Audit, and Finance Committee of Imagine Canada. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Laurier University, a Master of Theological Studies from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from McMaster University. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Jacqui Terry-Carroll

Director of Philanthropy

Jacqui Terry-Carroll is the Director of Philanthropy at Amref Health Africa in Canada. She is a dynamic leader with over 25 years of experience working in the philanthropic sector in Africa and Canada.

Jacqui is a thought leader at the intersection of grassroots and international development. She is devoted to creating dynamic organizations that respect diversity, equity, and inclusion and succeed in times of challenges and change.

She has experience providing strategic leadership for effectively implementing an organization’s mission and goals and applied governance experience. Her work is founded on and informed by her unique life experiences and a commitment to authentic leadership within a framework of relationships and care.

She has been accountable for the development, implementation, and outcomes of a full suite of fundraising programs in a wide range of organizations. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Cape Town, a Certificate in Fundraising through AFP Canada, and achieved her CFRE in 2019.

Jacqui brings extensive experience from her previous roles at the University of Waterloo and Pearson College UWC. With a track record of driving impactful initiatives, her professional experience includes forging collaborations and partnerships to mobilize resources in support of grassroots and social change movements, showcasing her commitment to community impact and a world that works for everyone.

Jacqui is a community leader and founding Board member of Bring on the Sunshine from 2010 to 2023 and a Board Director at Adventure for Change for eight years. Both are locally focused organizations that develop youth leadership in communities of mutual support.

She is also a supermom with one daughter, a partner, and a dog. She loves to cook, garden, and take naps.

Tasneem Haiderbhai

Finance Director

Tasneem Haiderbhai joined Amref Health Africa in Canada in June 2014, bringing more than a decade of financial reporting and accounting experience from energy, manufacturing and non-profit businesses.

A Certified General Accountant (CGA), Tasneem has an ability to integrate the management, financial, administrative and operating requirements of companies with efficiency and accuracy as the key components.

Manjula Alles

Programs & Partnerships Director

For over 18 years, Manjula Alles has passionately been dedicated to advancing health system strengthening, population health, and community-based health programming. His impactful contributions span various international agencies including Plan International Canada, Canadian Public Health Association, Right to Play, and most recently, Save The Children Canada, where he focuses on Health and Rights-based initiatives for Children and Adolescents.

Drawing from rich experiences across multiple countries, Manjula employs community-centered rights and health equity-based approaches, viewing global health issues through a social determinants of health lens. Key areas of interest and expertise include maternal, newborn, and child health, reproductive rights, and the integration of meaningful technology enabled solutions to promote health equity outcomes.

In Canada, he has contributed to the design and delivery of integrated primary health care and social services through the community health centre (CHC) model, serving highly vulnerable and complex communities. Manjula also proudly contributes time as volunteer board of director member for an exciting organization, Health Nexus Santé.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Manjula finds profound joy as a proud father to two incredibly energetic boys. Keeping up with their enthusiasm serves as a constant source of inspiration.

Aisha Poitevien

Manager of Partnerships & Philanthropy

Aisha joined Amref Health Africa in Canada in April 2023 as the Manager of Partnerships and Philanthropy. She brings ten years of experience as a Fundraiser for larger national non-profits and regional organizations.

Aisha has experience in legacy giving, major gifts, annual campaigns, gala events, and individual giving. Previously, she led the Legacy Giving program at the David Suzuki Foundation where she doubled the program’s revenue in one year. She values creating and maintaining positive relationships with donors and stakeholders.

Aisha holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Ottawa and a Fundraising Management certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University. She is passionate about the environment, immigration, women’s rights, and their intersectionality with race. She was previously a Board member of the Caribbean Women’s Society and is now a Board member for CEED Canada, a not-for-profit environmental awareness organization.

Wanjiru Munene

Manager of Communications

Wanjiru joined Amref Health Africa in Canada in October 2022 as the Manager of Communications. Over her 10+ year career as a Communications leader in both Canadian and African for-profit and non-profit sectors, she has successfully built a strong reputation spearheading strategic people-centered initiatives to deliver impactful results; grown brands through positioning and storytelling; and leveraged business acumen to generate creative solutions.

Wanjiru has previously held several communications leadership positions and spearheaded impact and results-driven communications and award-winning campaign work aimed at the meaningful engagement of culturally diverse and marginalized target audiences.

Wanjiru holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the United States International University – Africa. And a Post Graduate Certificate in Marketing Management from Humber College.

Wanjiru enjoys fostering new partnership opportunities through networking and is a passionate pan-Africanist, community volunteer, and avid African women and girls’ rights advocate.

Anmol Yagnik

Program Manager

Anmol comes to Amref with a range of experience in global health, having worked on immunization, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, and community health projects at a variety of non-profit organizations. Prior to Amref, she worked in program support and coordination roles in Canada, Switzerland, and Uganda. Most recently, she worked on a research project on protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) with The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. She brings her passion for the gender and global health nexus to Amref as well as her drive to make positive change.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Global Health from York University and a Master’s in International and Development Studies with a focus on Gender, Race, and Diversity from the Geneva Graduate Institute.
